2007 Careers in Student Affairs Conference
September 11, 2007
Dear Friend & Colleague:
The Ohio College Personnel Association (OCPA) is a comprehensive student affairs organization dedicated to providing quality professional development opportunities that enhance student learning, foster an appreciation of diversity and encourage collaborative partnerships among student affairs professionals in Ohio.
The OCPA Executive Council would like to encourage you and your students to participate in our upcoming 2007 Careers in Student Affairs Conference—on Saturday, October 20, 2007. We expect 200+ undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate participants, in addition to talented faculty and professional staff! Attendance and participation is open to all OCPA members and non-members.
The Careers in Student Affairs conference is designed for undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students interested in pursuing graduate studies and careers in Student Affairs. The conference will offer opportunities to learn about graduate school program options, network with Student Affairs practitioners, meet new friends, and get motivated to seek a career in Student Affairs.
The Graduate School Expo is one of the great features of this conference. Student, faculty, and staff interest and participation has grown over the last two years, as well as the interest in graduate preparation programs outside of Ohio. We now have students attending the conference from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. Therefore, we expanded the Graduate School Expo to include a variety of graduate preparation programs from across the region. It is our goal to provide students with the following:
- Exposure to various Student Affairs/Student Personnel Graduate Academic Programs and entrance requirements.
- Identify important deadlines for admission
- Identify application/entrance exam requirements (LSAT, GMAT, GRE, etc.)
- Provide information on Graduate or Teaching Assistantship opportunities
- Provide information on financial aid options
- Create opportunities for graduate school representatives to recruit leading baccalaureate and master’s candidates interested in graduate school
I hope that you will encourage students and staff to attend. A registration form is included for your convenience. Groups of 10 are able to register and attend at the discounted rate of $280.00. We want to see undergraduate student leaders, graduate students, and paraprofessional staff interested in careers in Student Affairs from all Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky institutions at this exciting workshop!
If you have questions, please contact me at 330.569.5971. You may also e-mail me at coynm@hiram.edu. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, October 20, 2007!
Sincerely,
Michelle Crawford and Nicole Coy
