Merging at the Crossroads: Collaborating to Chart Future Directions

January 30-31, 2003
Radisson Hotel, Worthington, Ohio

"Merging at the crossroads" is a fitting theme for the first joint conference between OCPA and OASPA professionals. We intend to collaborate to chart future directions and we hope that you will be part of this effort! We encourage you to share your knowledge and experience as a conference presenter and submit your program today!

Peter Senge and his associates stated in The Dance of Change that "leadership is the capacity of a human community to shape its future and specifically to sustain the significant process of change required to do so." They continue their definition of leadership by maintaining "that any organization has many leaders because there are many people at many levels in the hierarchy who play crucial roles in leadership communities…Diverse people in diverse positions contribute vitally to the way that an enterprise shapes its’ future."

This January, OCPA and OASPA will collaborate in an effort to provide professional development and networking opportunities to professionals in higher education in the state of Ohio. We will speak to the leadership of professionals on all levels and ask how higher education is at the crossroads in 2002-2003. Through interest sessions and keynote speakers, the conference will examine current issues and best practices.

On behalf of the conference planning committee, we invite you to submit a program proposal and consider sharing your leadership experiences as we chart future directions. You may want to present on an innovative or collaborative program or service at your institution. We encourage you to consider co-presenting with a graduate or undergraduate student as a mentoring activity.

We hope that you will join us as a presenter, participant, and/or conference volunteer. This conference will be an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues and form new friendships. Mark your calendars now!
