Meet the Newly-elected Officers of the Executive Council

Vik Arunkumar
President Elect

I am currently a Community Coordinator with the Office of Residence Services at Wright State University. Prior to coming to Wright State University, I was pursuing graduate work at Texas A&M University - Kingsville. I earned a Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education Administration from Wright State University in 2006. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at Wright State University with a focus on management, innovation, and change.

I have been involved with OCPA since 2005, initially as a volunteer with the conference committee and then as an executive board member. I am currently the Career’s in Student Affairs Co-Chair and was previously the member at large for four year public institutions.
Being on the OCPA executive board has given me a deep understanding of the structure, purpose, and goals of OCPA. OCPA strives for professional development, leadership and networking among student affairs educators.

I am originally from India and came to the U.S. in 2001. I currently reside in Fairborn with my wife Monica.

Jeff Akers
Secretary/Records

I am happy to have been elected the Secretary for OCPA. It is an exciting time in Higher Education and I am happy to have a leadership role in shaping its future.

Currently, I work at Otterbein College as the Assistant Director of Residence Life and Hall Director. Prior to Otterbein, I was at Ashland University as a Hall Director. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Ashland University in 2005. Then, I earned a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University in 2007.

Last year, I had the privilege of assisting the Conference Planning Committee by co-chairing the Program Proposal selection committee for the 2009 OCPA/OASPA Conference.

One day, I hope to be the Vice-President of Student Affairs at a liberal arts college, but before that, I would love to be involved in every as many different aspects of the Student Affairs experience as possible.

I have been married to my wife, Lauren, for almost three years.

Thank you again for this opportunity.  I am looking forward to making great strides with my fellow OCPA Board members.

Rebecca Fick
Graduate Member-At-Large

I am the Greek Life and Leadership Graduate Assistant at Baldwin-Wallace College. I am also finishing a practicum experience in the Office of International Affairs at Kent State University. This summer I will be a NODA intern at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ashland University in English, Journalism, and Applied Writing.

I have attended the OCPA Careers in Student Affairs conference for the past two years and competed in the Case Study at the 2009 OASPA/OCPA conference. I participated in a first year case study at the Annual Fraternity Advisors meeting as well. My interests in student affairs include service learning, leadership development, conduct, women's issues, first year students, and fraternity and sorority members.

In my free time I enjoy travelling, concerts, reading, and trying new foods. I enjoy exercising and just started training for my first 5k!  I am very excited to be a part of the OCPA executive board as the Graduate Member-At-Large.
