Membership Benefits
The
benefits of joining OCPA are numerous. OCPA is an
inclusive organization which provides association-wide
access to involvement. The rewards of becoming
involved enhance individuals' membership experience
and strengthen the organization and its objectives.
Conferences offer opportunities to learn more about
the field, sharpen presentation skills, examine
current trends of our profession, and network.
Individual
involvement and leadership offers all members an opportunity to make decisions which serve the larger membership and contribute to the strength and validity of our
profession. A list of committee opportunities with relevant details is provided. Committee members and chairs are an integral part of OCPA. Additional opportunities include serving as
a Campus Liaison for OCPA and your institution, serving on special task
forces, assisting the Grants Chair in the solicitation of funds to support OCPA, volunteering to assist during special events including conferences, or serving on the Executive Board in elected or appointed positions.
Networking opportunities occur through conferences, committee and volunteer work, the
OCPA Directory, and regional receptions. Find long-lasting professional and personal contacts and develop a solid link with ACPA.
OCPA News!, the quarterly newsletter, provides another vehicle for communication among members about issues, legislation, research, programming, services, and actions of ACPA
and other bodies. Submissions from members are
always welcome and can be directed to the Newsletter
Editor.
Professional Development Services include vacancy postings, resume reviews, and mock interviews coordinated by this committee at the conferences.
Since 1992, OCPA has periodically sponsored a one-day Support Staff Drive-In Workshop addressing timely and relevant issues.
This event is always a great professional development
experience for its participants. OCPA members
can serve on the conference planning committee,
present a breakout session, or volunteer to assist at
